Artist Statement:

Alsbrooks is currently engaged in a new series of works based on botanicals due to her fascination with all things plants.
She is originally from South Carolina but has been in Philadelphia 20 years now and has been working and exhibiting as an artist for more than thirty years.

Education:

University of Arizona, BFA, 1986
University of Illinois, 1988-89
Focus on printmaking
Art education began in museum schools at age five.

Awards & Distinctions:

The botanical work is from 2015-16. Previous work received the West Collects Prize in 2012

Professional/Teaching Experience:

Have taught in schools and community centers for 20 years. Worked as a painter for the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, 2007-2014. I have my own business in historic restoration.

Exhibitions:

I have not exhibited this new work. However, I have exhibited art nationally in most major US cities such as NY, Miami, Houston, Chicago, others, and in Berlin.

Artistic Influences:

I love almost all art from Cy Twombly and Sigmar Polke to 17th century Dutch Masters.
