Artist Statement:
Sergio Aranda is a Spanish-Swiss contemporary abstract artist based in Barcelona, known for his textured mixed media paintings inspired by erosion, architecture, industrial surfaces, and Japanese aesthetics.
Working with acrylic paint, collage, Japanese papers, pigments, and layered textures, he creates contemporary abstract artworks that explore silence, memory, fragility, and transformation. His process combines minimal composition with raw tactile surfaces, revealing traces of time through peeling, scraping, and material experimentation.
Influenced by Barcelona’s architectural atmosphere and the philosophy of wabi-sabi, his paintings balance structure and imperfection, geometry and emotion.
His contemporary abstract works are collected internationally across Europe and the United States, particularly by collectors and interior designers seeking sophisticated textured art for modern and architectural interiors.
Each original artwork is created in his Barcelona studio.

Professional/Teaching Experience:
Workshops, Private Classes & Online Tutorials
Alongside my personal artistic practice, I also teach contemporary abstract painting and mixed media techniques through private classes, small group workshops, and online tutorials.
I offer individual and group art sessions in Barcelona, where I share my creative approach to texture, collage, layering, composition, abstraction, and material experimentation. These classes are designed for both beginners and experienced artists looking to develop a more personal and intuitive artistic language.
My teaching focuses less on rigid academic rules and more on creativity, atmosphere, freedom, and discovering the emotional potential of materials and surfaces.
In addition to in-person workshops, I create painting tutorials and mixed media content for major international online platforms and social media communities, followed by collectors, artists, and art enthusiasts across Europe, the United States, and worldwide.
Through these videos, I share contemporary abstract painting processes inspired by erosion, architecture, Japanese aesthetics, industrial textures, wabi-sabi philosophy, and the poetry of imperfection.
Teaching and sharing the creative process have become an essential extension of my artistic universe — a way of connecting with people through experimentation, texture, and contemporary art.
